How to get to Trad

Trad province locates on the east of Thailand, with its border connected to Cambodia.  Its total distance from Bangkok is around 315 kilometers, about 4-5 hours to travel.

1.        By private car

• Bangna – Trad Route – use Highway No. 3 via Samutpralan, passing Chonburi, Rayong, and Chanthaburi until you reach Trad.  Total distance is about 385 kilometers.

• Bangna – Klaeng Route – use Highway No. 3 then turn left in to Highway No. 344 (Chonburi – Ban Bueng – Klaeng) When you reach Klaeng, take a left turn again into Highway No. 3 to get to Chanthaburi, and Trad.  Total distance is about 315 kilometers.

2.        By hired minibus

• From the airport or wherever your want of Bangkok – the appointed point of Trad.  Price is 1,600 Bht/Day.  This minibus accommodates about 8-10 person.

3.        By bus

• Right now, taking a bus to Trad is convenience.  There are both private and state buses available.  Bus types ranged from ordinary to V.I.P ones.  Which one to choose is depended on your pocket.

When you are arrived at Trad and would like to get to the place you want, here are the songthaew(mini-bus) routes:

• Trad – Laem Ngob parks at Robinson Department Store.  Total distance is 16 kilometers.  Fare is 20 Baht/Person.

• Trad – Laem Sok parks in front of Trad’s Fresh Market Store.  Total distance is 28 kilometers.  Fare is 20 Baht/Person.

• Trad – Klong Yai parks at the back of Trad’s Fresh Market Store. Total distance is 75 kilometers.  Fare is 50 Baht.

• There’s also Songthaew which you can hire to any parts of the city.  Each bus accommodates about 8-10 persons.  Price is negotiable.

Prepare Yourself Before Visiting Koh Kood

To make your trip much more safe and fun, you should carefully prepare yourself like this.

Accommodation:  Many resorts on Koh Kood are welcome you all the time and they also arrange your convenience.  However, there are some differences in each package.  They are the kind of a boat and the diving site.  Therefore, you can select the program as you prefer and ask for information for ever resort.

One that is allergic to seafood or Muslim should check out the menu and inform the resort before you go.

 Vehicle: Don’t worry about your own car as every resort has the security service all the time.  Fee is about 50-100 Baht.

For on who travels by bus has to take an air-conditioned public bus at Eastern Bus Terminal, locally called Ekamai at 10.30 p.m. or 11.00 p.m.  It will reach Muang Districe, Trad Province, within 5-6 hours (at 04.00 a.m. and 04.30 a.m. approximately).  Then continue with minibus to the pier.

Personal Stuffs:  You should prepare comfortable clothes, slippers sun glasses, hat/cap, inhalant, balm etc.  Private snorkel is preferable as same as snack since there hasn’t minimart on Koh Kood.

Budget:  If you lay a half of deposit, you should pay the rest before you go there at least 7 days.  Additionally, holding cash is better than a credit card because no bank runs the business there.
