Rin, North Rock (Hin
Khao)
Location:
This is
another site in the
Outer Islands, located
about 1 mile northeast

main dive site on the
eastern side of North
Rock. (NOTE: This site

Koh
Rin, South Rock (Hin Ton
Mai)
Location:
South Rock ("Hin
Ton Mai") on the charts)
lies half a mile south
of Koh Rin.
Access:
Approach from
seaward. Anchor anywhere
clear of the fringing
reef in about 14-18
meters on mixed sand and
rocks. (The rock
fragments are the result
natural weathering,
dynamite fishing, or
else shelling by the
navy- you can see bits
of expended ordinance on
the bottom.
Occasionally, the Thai
navy still conducts
firing exercises in the
area, but they send out
patrol boats to issue
warnings first.)
Sea and Weather
Conditions:
During
periods of good weather,
the site can be dived
any time of the year.
Because the island is so
small, it doesn't offer
much protection no
matter which way the

you flak jackets if
you're really worried;
but there's never yet
been a diver lost on
this site.
