HQ Bay
Location
Look for this dive site on the eastern side of the bay, off the southwestern tip of Koh Surin Nua, where depths fall off sharply from 5 meters at the edge of the reef flat down to 26 meters.
Access
Approach from the southeast. There is a government mooring in the bay, but it’s usually occupied. In that case, anchor clear of the reefs in about 30 meters.
Sea and Weather Conditions
Dive mainly during the NE monsoon (November-May), although strong winds may come up during early December. The Surins are generally avoided during the AW monsoon (May-November).

miles north – northeast
of the Similan Islands.
You can see Koh Bon to
the south and the Surins
to the north.
Access
Approach the dive site
from the east or west.
Conduct live-boat dives
here or else anchor in
deep water well clear of
the reefs. The site has
been declared a marine
sanctuary-any form of
fishing or other
activity harmful to the
local marine life is
prohibited-with the
protected area extending
for a radius of 2
kilometers around the
island at low tide.

Koh Bon, West Ridge
Location
Koh Bon is situated 13
miles northeast of the
Similan Islands. You can
see Koh Similan to the
south, and Koh Tachai is
visible to the north.
Access
Anchor in a sandy bay on
the southern side of the
island just to the east
of the site. This
anchorage is not
recommended for an
overnight stay.
