Haad Mae Haad at the Western coast of
Koh Tao, being the heart of the island, has all facilities ones could
possibly want, accommodation at various rates, shops, banks, internet
service, pubs, bars, etc.
Haad Mae Haad is a port, it is still a fair swimming spot with yellow
red sand.
There is a pile of strange look rock at the southern cape of the beach.
Many tourists would come to Haad Mae Haad to make a stroll and watch
impressive sunset.

As the largest beach of the
south, Chalok Baan Kao is the center of the southern beaches, which is
very curved beach with capes at two ends, therefore the sea inside the

It is the second largest living area of the island after Haad Mae in the
west, so you could find various kinds of accommodations, restaurants,
internet services.
Ao Ma Muang, the
Northern beach of Koh Tao is entirely surrounded by high hills, the
coral reefs in front of this
bay are really fascinating. Also has a wonderful sandy beach suitable
for both sunbathing and swimming.

running from the hill above the sea.

Koh Chalarm is a rocky islet
at the tip of the cape around the head of the eastern beach.
This cape is a large rock in the middle of the water, this is one of the
most important scuba diving spots of Koh Tao.

Chalarm, this is said to be one of the most beautiful sunrise scenery
You can get nearly
everything you need right one in Koh Tao. Around the island are
plenty of supermarkets, open from early morning until 10:30pm,
and though they offer less variety than the mainland, the
essentials can be found and bought for bargain prices. Except in
the big stores you can try to haggle the price, but always
remember to be friendly and reasonable. Original ethnic
souvenirs made from ceramic, coconut, shells or bamboo and
unique jewelry made from silver, leather and precious stones are
offered in several shops as well as from vendors at the
roadside.
Sea kayaking is fun
and easy for everyone to enjoy independently. Half day trips
from Koh Tao can take you along the south west to shark island
and back. The more adventurous can take a day and paddle the
whole island to check out some of the island top sports. This

only be reached by sea, many inhabited and untouched with
abundance of wildlife and clear blue seas, each with its own
character, beauty and charm with lush tropical vegetation
clinging to steep mountainsides.
Your scuba adventure
starts here at Koh Tao. Koh Tao provides great diving in all of
south east Asia and is most popular, and is one of the top 10
place for diving site. Koh Tao has loads of beach dive sites,
but 2 major dive sites are Shark Island and southwest pinnacle.
both are exceptional sites with great variety of reef fish and
alluring rocky formations, maximum depth 32m.

Koh Tao contains of
hundreds of natural granite boulders and rock faces, from high
granite cliffs plummeting into the crystal clear blue sea, to

The island has several excellent outfits who run daily courses
and trips to these sites, so if you cannot quite bring yourself
to extent all that energy getting to the top of one of Koh Tao’s
peak for magical view, then simply get taken to the top, and
then have the adrenalin rush of abseiling or rappelling down.
Koh Tao has miles of
virtually deserted dirt tracks which can be explored with a
mountain bike. Being a small mountainous island, don't be
surprised if your route encounters some fairly steep hills, so
for this reason please ensure you always carry enough water to
quench your thirst. Several places on the island rent out
mountain bikes for as little as 150 Baht per day.
Koh Tao is fairly
unique in that it is made up of hundreds of granite boulders,
both above and below water. Thereby making it a fantastic island
for bouldering, which is basically as it sounds, climbing up and
around these boulders, and exploring the stunning scenery on the
way. Bouldering is a perfect way to explore the hidden gems of
Koh Tao, with many courses and guided trips available for both
novice and experienced climber.
Naturally with such amazing and accessible rock structures, rock
climbing on Koh Tao is also popular, with several excellent
operators, running daily climbs or more structured courses,
which teach the knowledge and skill sets needed to be a
confident climber anywhere in the world.
Koh Tao's roads are
50% paved and 50 % unpaved. Even those that are paved are not
exactly smooth and pothole free. So the best and most widely
chosen from of rented transport is motocross or quad bikes. Koh
tao has miles and miles of direct tracks to explore, and renting
a quard bike is a great way to get those inaccessible parts of
the island. There are numerous outlets near the port to rent out
these vehicles.
Koh Tao is a great
place to hike as the routes are short, the views are amazing and
you will always find something new and unexpected. There is a
mountain chain running down the spine of the island and the
highest point is 379m, so although the hikes can be testing,
they offer wonderful overall vistas of the island as a whole.
Many of the hikes are also enhance by Koh Tao's wide variety of
resident and migratory birds.
Sea eagles, Ospreys, Pied Harriers, Chinese Sparrow hawks, and
black bazes can all be seen throughout the year circling around
the rock outcrops of the island. Several outfits' on the island
offer nature walks and early morning bird watching if you fancy
learning more about the natural wildlife of this beautiful
island.
