The fist
national park in Songkhla, designated in 1991, extends more
than 212 square kilometers (132,500 rais) in Amphoe Na Thawi
and Sadao. Most of the Park is covered with Moist evergreen
forest with diverse flora and fauna. The park has
campgrounds, nature-study trils and scenic viewpoints. The
park offers both natural sites for nature-lovers, and his-torical
sites for those interested in history. The best time to
visit the Park is in either the rainy season during
May-January, or summer during February-April.
Khao Nam Khang Historic
Tunnel This tunnel was once known as the Piyamit
Village 5, run by the Communist insurgents. It is the
largest and longest man-made tunnel in Thailand, completed
in two years with three separate corridors and three levels
deep.
