Satonkchang or Kantonk Festival is organized annually on
the first Friday, Saturday and Sunday of February at Thai
Elephant Conservation Center. The festival is divided into
two parts. The first part is elephant’s show and
Kantokchang. The second part is to have Kantok meal.
On April 13 – 14, Songkran is celebrated by offering food
to monks, paying homage to revere Buddha image, respectfully
pouring water on elder’s hands and water throwing.
The Historical Horse Carriage and
Train in Lampang’s Raecall Day
The historical horse carriage and train in Lampang’s recall
day is held on every the first of April. It recalls
that the first Luang Train was arrived in Lampang
Station and there is also a celebration for the Thai
New Year, April 1, 1916 in that period. Yorkun Wang
River Festival is revived and people put food in the
bowls of Buddhist priests.
Before you leave Lampang, you don’t miss to busy the
souvenir. Kanom Kowtan (sweet meal) is Lampang’s famous
souvenir and can be found at many stores. The small horse
carriage is also Lampang’s famous souvenir. The outstanding
small horse carriage can move and is decorated like the real
thing. The receiver will be impressed with its manufacture.
The woven cotton fabric is woven by using Lampang’s cottn
whee is at Ban Luang in Amphoe Matea, Ban Tung gawn in
Amphoe Muangpan, Amphoe
Jaehom and Banfie in Amphoe Muang. The teak woodcarving can
found in Banluke teak woodcarving village at Tambon Nakua,
Amphoe Maephra.
Lampang is also the source of good quality clay in Thailand.
The good quality clay is use to make the ceramics. The
ceramic factory is situated on two side road and the store
is in Muang.
