Thanks to the many natural resources and long history,
Chanthaburi is a place worth visiting at least once in a
lifetime. In the past, Chanthaburi was a part of the great
history of Thailand. When Ayutthaya was sacked by marauding
Burmese, a group of patriots led by Phraya Tak (later King
Taksin the Great) stayed at Chanthaburi to prepare the
patriot forces were strong enough to repel the Burmese
forces. Time goes on,
Chanthaburi is a peaceful city today. It is famous for the
good taste of tropical fruits, good peppers or the biggest

GEOGRAPHY
Located at the southeast of Thailand, about 330 kilometres
from Bangkok on Highway No. 3. The total area is 6,338
square kilometres. The north of the land is marked by series
of mountain interspersed by a flat plain and by the coast
and rivers on the south.

the Gulf of Thailand East: bordering
with Trat Province and Cambodia West: bordering with
Chonburi and Rayong Provinces
CLIMATE
The climate is tropical, generally warm and humid with
abundant rainfall. The average temperature is about 28.6°
C, and the highest about 31°C
in April. In the rainy season ( May- October ), there is
abundant rainfall, especially in August. It is cool but not
cold in the winter season ( November – January ).

The population of Chanthaburi is 488,397: Men – 245,536,
Women – 242,861.
RELIGION
Approximately 83.6% of the people are Buddhist,
4.14% Christian, 0.33% Muslim and 11.93% follow other
religions
